A King Is Born

In class we made a drawing about Jesus' birth and we had to make it as a silhouette. The thing I found easy was painting the background. The thing I found hard was making the silhouettes. What I will do next time is, make more silhouettes.

Isaiah 7:14
14 therefore the lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him immanuel.

Going to High School

In two days I am heading to high school and start a new journey.

My hands are shaking and I start breathing heavily. Every time I think about it, my hands get all sweaty and I can see more sweat dripping down my face. It was finally the first day of high school, I started to get cold feet about going to high school. My heart is rapidly beating in my chest, I started to feel sick as I enter my first class room.

As I sat down, I felt dizzy and everything I see was a burr.

Ngatu (Tapa Cloth)

What is A Ngatu?

A Ngatu is a tapa cloth that is an iconic symbol for hundreds of years in pacifica. A Ngatu is one of the highest signs of respect. The Ngatu is use for swaddling a baby at birth, lines the bed of a wedding couple on their first night and at death it is wrapped around a loved one. The name of the Ngatu being made is Koka’anga

To make a Ngatu, every women in tonga has to work as a crew. A Ngatu (tapa cloth) has to be made very carefully. They womans have to peel the bark off the tree by biting it off or using a knife. Then they hang the bark in the sun to dry. After that they make it ready to put it into the water for the lady to bidding. The stick that they use is called a Ike and the long stick at the bottom is call a Tutua.

They use the Tutua for laying down the Feta’aki so they can beat it with the Ike. They have two piece and they have to combined it so they can start beating again. Each woman has a certain Feta’aki to make for the next gathering. In the school hall all the woman and the girls have to cover the table with material and this will be backing the Ngatu. After they cover the table with backing material, they line up the Feta’aki along the table. Then they past the feta’aki to the backing material.

They put past over the backing material, then they carefully put the feta’aki on top of the backing material. After that they press the two pieces together then roll them up slowly. After they roll it up, they carry it outside so they can lay it down on the concrete for it to dry. There will be a woman who will darken the patterns or drawing them free handed. In the process of making the Ngatu, it could take in the matter of a few hours or a couple of days.

As the young Tongan woman learn about the Ngatu and learn the ways about how to make it. They are learning about the ways how their mother and theirs before them made the Ngatu. Ngatu is one of the most respected gifts in Tongan society but maybe, making a Ngatu is more valuable than the Ngatu it self.

What I found Hard: researching about Ngatu
What I found Easy: writing about it

Should Cellphones be Banned at School?

Should Cellphones be Banned at School?

There are a lot of cellphones in the world today and they are being used in high school for research or texting your mates. Some teachers in the world doesn’t like the idea that the students can use their phone while in class so they ban it. I'm going to explain  different types of reasons why cell phones should not be banned.

Firstly, I strongly believe that cell phones shouldn’t be banned because it is really useful when you don’t know what something means. It is also good for researching specific things. If you trying to speak another language, your cell phone can help you pronounce that word or it can teach you what it means.

Secondly, I think that it can be useful in case of an emergency happens in the school. As the emergency happens and the teachers doesn’t know where you are, they can call you. They can also track you with the find my phone app, all you need to do is link your icloud account and it will track any device that has a icloud account in it.

My final reason is that it’s easier to share news and you don't need to write it down on paper. If you plan things with your phone it will be easier to share your plan to others and they can give you feedback without any of you going anywhere. It will also be easier to share things such as: what is going to happen to the school or which class are you going to go next.

In conclusion, if we don’t ban cell phones it will be easier to talk to your friends and it will be less stressful for your learning. So do you agree with me and if so, enjoy your time with your phone.

W.A.L.T write a persuasive text
I really enjoyed writing this persuasive writing because I get to share my opinion to everyone.
What I Found Hard: thinking of the best way to state my opinion
What I Found Easy: finding information about cellphones

Forbidden Car

The Forbidden Car

It was a dark and foggy evening, Mr Bean and the three kids went out to explore the forest and see if there is any abandoned McDonald’s. They got prepared and traveled through the forest. After 30 minutes the three kids were starving so they started to see things like unicorns and a fat guy eating a burger. They keep traveling deeper into the forest and the deeper they go the more strange things they see. A homeless guy appeared and he gave them a key but they weren’t sure what opens it so Mr Bean gave it back and kept on walking. Another 30 minutes past and while they’re walking they see the homeless guy again trying to give them the key but they keep refusing him. After 10 times refusing the homeless guy they took the key and tried to find out what opens it.

2 hours have past and they found a random car that crashed into a tree. They went to see if anything is inside so they wiped the window but the dust was too thick and couldn’t be rubbed off. Mr Bean tried the key and it worked so they opened the door and saw a happy meal box. They opened the happy meal and there was a dead rat beside a half eaten patty. (woosh) something went past behind them, so they turned around and no one was there. They hear screaming from all angles then they couldn’t take it anymore so they ran and ran to find the homeless guy so they can ask him about the car. They kept traveling until their legs couldn’t run anymore and they stopped hearing the scream but they saw a young girl with a white dress. They said “hello” but the girl didn’t respond, instead she walked away. She kept walking until she was behind a tree then she disappeared out of nowhere and the homeless guy appeared again.

They went to the homeless guy and asked him questions about the key and the car that opened it. The homeless guy said that “ I gave you the key because I wanted you to release the ghost inside it”. Everyone was frightened then they started to hear the screaming again and saw the girl heading towards them. Mr Bean and the three kids picked up a stick and tried to fight the girl but when they striked it went straight through her. All of them knew that she wasn’t a normal girl instead she is a GHOST, they said to themself “how is this possible and how can they see her?”. The ghost kept on screaming and chasing Mr bean and the kids to their house. Mr Bean closed all the doors and locked the kids in a safe room but Mr Bean didn’t know where to hide so he went to his bed and hid underneath his blanket.

The ghost slowly went up the stairs then went to Mr Bean’s room looking for the Key, Mr Bean was scared for his life and when the ghost was near, he wet his bed. The ghost found the key and went to the forest to find the car that had a picture inside it. The picture was a young girl with a smile on his face, Mr Bean looked at the picture and he said to the ghost “is that you?”. The ghost nodded her head then said “I used to live here but then I passed away because I went to the forest to find a bird but a huge branch fell on me” Mr Bean knows now that the girl is peaceful so he let the boys free and the girl went back to the forest. The kids said to Mr Bean “is it dinner time” so Mr Bean got the phone and ordered pizza. Mr Bean said to the kids while they were eating pizza “the forest is dangerous and never go there without me” the kids nodded their heads.
